From August 9 to 13, the second “World Youth Energy Tour” kicked off in Beijing. Fifteen international youth representatives from ten countries visited CHN Energy’s headquarter, Zhunneng Group, and Longyuan Power Yumen wind farm. Embracing “innovation” and “sustainability”, they gained an understanding of China’s region-specific approach to developing new productive forces and advancing high-quality growth in the energy sector, reflecting Chinese path to modernization.
Over the past decade, China has been committed to reducing carbon emissions and has achieved significant results. We not only need to harness new energy sources but also use new technologies to reshape the mining industry. This picture is a perfect example of the tremendous transformation taking place. In the past, we extracted resources from nature, but now we are giving nature a new opportunity and a new future. We hope to see this kind of transformation in all mining sites.
In recent years, China has been utilizing new technologies to achieve a balance between ecological protection and development. Venezuela, with its abundant mineral resources and heavy reliance on the mining industry, could greatly benefit from China’s experience of using digital technology in traditional mining. As this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Venezuela and China, I hope two countries can continue to deepen cooperation, leading the way in digital innovation and green development.
This photo shows Zhunneng Group initiative of transforming decommissioned mining dump trucks into a restaurant. It highlights that Zhunneng Group focused on both reducing pollution and carbon emissions and reshaping its business model with a green development philosophy. This approach is sustainable and environmentally friendly, yet often overlooked by many companies. It inspires us to continually explore new development paths while making full use of existing material resources.
