CHN Energy’s Ningdong Renewable Hydrogen and Carbon Emission Reduction Project Connected to Photovoltaic Grid

Lately, the 500,000KW photovoltaic station of the Ningdong renewable hydrogen and carbon emission reduction project of Guohua Energy Investment Co., Ltd. under CHN Energy passed the maximal capacity test of the Ningxia power grid regulation and control center, which confirmed that the project had been connected to the power grid in full capacity. This marked a major breakthrough of China’s first commercial renewable hydrogen energy project featuring integration and coupling with multiple scenarios such as chemical industry and transport, which is also the country’s first renewable hydrogen and carbon emission reduction demonstration project integrating the whole industrial chain ranging from manufacturing, storage, refueling, and utilization.

It is reported that the Ningdong renewable hydrogen and carbon emission reduction project, located in the Ningdong energy and chemical industry base in Ningxia, has a total investment of 3.8 billion yuan. It is mainly comprised of a 620,000KW hydrogen manufacturing and photovoltaic project, two photovoltaic hydrogen plants with a production capacity of 20,000 cubic meters per hour, and two hydrogen refueling stations with a total capacity of 4,000 kilograms per day, as well as hydrogen pipelines and hydrogen-powered heavy trucks. The project is jointly developed and constructed CHN Energy’s Guohua Energy Investment Co., Ltd., Ningxia Coal Industry Co., Ltd., and Ningxia Electric Power Co., Ltd. It has formed a full-industrial-chain ecosystem covering renewable hydrogen production, green hydrogen replacement for coal chemical industry, and hydrogen storage, transport and refueling, achieving in-depth integration of clean energy supply and the world’s largest single coal-to-liquid project and blazing a concrete, feasible path for commercialized, sustainable development of China’s hydrogen energy industry.
