As of October 1, the Ma’erdang Hydropower Station has surpassed 1.5 billion kWh in cumulative annual electricity generation, with an equivalent availability factor of 4,464 hours.
Since the beginning of 2024, the company has made full use of holidays and grid-side maintenance opportunities to conduct equipment upkeep. By managing the defect in the operation through a comprehensive closed-loop process, the company continually enhance the operation and maintenance management of the hydropower station and ensuring the health of the equipment for long-term safe and stable operation.
During the flood season, operators closely monitor water level changes to stay informed about water conditions, ensuring flood safety while optimizing operational parameters to enhance efficiency and meet the electricity demands during the National Day holiday.
The Ma’erdang Hydropower Station sits at the plateau with an average altitude of 3,300 meters and has a total installed capacity of 2.32 million kW. All units are expected to be operational by the end of December. Once operational, the station is expected to generate an average annual electricity output of 7.304 billion kWh. It will save approximately 2.2 million tons of standard coal annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 8.16 million tons, significantly supporting the large-scale development and application of new energy in Qinghai Province and contributing to the establishment of a clean energy base in the upper reaches of the Yellow River.
